Central bus station on the Horizon202 and Agent Shadow film.

My previous Horizon202 I got as a gift from my dear friend Christina, during her visit here in Israel in 2015. I fell in love with this bulky made from plastic, but weight like made from cast iron camera immediately when touched and especially when exposed to the first roll with this strange animal. The click of the shutter made with Horizon202 has nothing in common with the regular sound of the shutter of every camera that I held in my hands. Same I can say about the huge and bright like desert in the middle of a sunny day in the middle of summer viewfinder. It’s understandable and round like the cockpit of some Boeing 787.

In case some of you, my dear readers, are not in big love with visual distortion, I really recommend leaving this post and do not put your health at risk. Some of the frames can cause a feeling of mild nausea. I’m really ok with these distortions, I miss them when looking at the results in photographs taken with another panoramic camera – some like Hasselblad Xpan 45mm – I get immediately an overwhelming feeling of boredom. Something too accurate, too straight, too real. All these I miss in the images taken with Horizon202.

And now the continuation of my narrative. This old panoramic camera just stopped working after three years. Yes, the build quality could be much better, but what is, is what is. And after some thoughts and searches, I found a mint condition of the same version which was produced between 1991 and 2003 by the Krasnogorsky Mechanichesky Zavod (KMZ) — the maker of Zorki and Zenit cameras (the information from the Lomography site) and got the camera from Japan just in two weeks, thanks to the seller, delivered it very accurately and packed nice as well, to Fedex, delivered the package very fast and to the local taxes services, skinned me without even blinking. Bon Appetite – it is what it is.

I found some free time on the first weekend and decided to go to the central bus station of Tel Aviv, to pick up the candid berries of the real life of the Southern part of the city. During two and half long walk I photographed around the station, walked Levinki Street to Herzel Street, and went up to the open-air Carmel market, which is usually empty on Saturdays and slowly returned back to the bus station, where I parked my car. I don’t remember when the last time I enjoyed a walk in Telaviv. I hope that you will enjoy the first part of my narrative- the area around the station, which is usually bustling on weekends.

A few words about the Kosmofoto Agent Shadow film, which I used when “tested” this camera. In the middle of 2021 i supported the Stephen Dowling Kickstarter campaign featuring a new Black and White film. So, after the 811 backers pledged £41,000 for this project, I got my package of this film. This post is the first result of using it. I developed it at home in the Kodak HC110 chemicals E dilution. BTW. If you found these 24mm × 58mm long frames interesting for you, there is much more in my “LONGOGRAPHY” posts here in my blog site – “LONGOGRAPHY” tag.
