free your lens – an experimental project with Asahi 50mm m42 lens

some of my previous projects just calling me to make the fun again. last month i had this dreamy Asahi 50mm 42M bayonet lens all the time with me and used it unattached here and there, when i found that happening around me is inspiring to distort the focus and to deceive the usual routined perception. the whole process is also interesting and different – to stop all the muscles and to freeze a breathing, to find the best combination of Aperture, focused distance and the distance between the lens and a sencore of camera for every specific subject.

for the next part of this project i want to shoot portraits – somebody would like to pose me ?

enjoy the freelensing again :

  1. i always loved to see this experimental results of yours but always have beento frightened to try it myself. so interesting how ordinary objects and views turn into something completely differently mooded just by a little distortion … and freedom 🙂 i’d like to pose for you at any time, not even because the desert-with-wild-hair&no-sleep-portrait you took after that epic night is still my favorite portrait of mine ever, but because i always wanted to see you taking afree-lens photograph with my own eyes. so, next time in your dreamy garden …?

    1. Hey darling !! Thank you very much for the kind words. Another reason why i love these results of the freestyle photography that all looks a little bit like…analogue ;-)))
Defenitely – next time in the dreamy garden and in the hot and empty desert! !

  2. Hey Victor…I love all these photos, just shows you and tells you something.
Looking forward to the Portraits…Love to ‘sit’ for you , but sure you will not be too keen!!! Ha, ha.

  3. fantastic photos, Victor!! I tried free-lensing a while ago… your photos are so inspirational (as always) I may give it a try once again… I just love the natural light leak in some of the photos here… gorgeous set!!

    1. Thank you Alexandra for the kind words. Freelensing is slowing me down exactly like film photography. Plus same dreamy look with the light leaks as you paid attention on them. Have a nice day !!!

  4. Hi Victor – my Amateur Photographers group wants to know about your FREELENSING technique I am always raving about . No one here had ever heard of a mirrorless camera until I bought mine . I had to do a big presentation on the differences between my Canon DSLR and my mirrorless when I purchased this lovely piece. Besides taking some notes from you as my teacher is there anywhere else I could find some information on this technique ? Do you mind if I reference you ? You have been my only source of real knowledge as well as Trillian and Lena and other G+!friends . They edit everything to death here . I only crop if anything if I can get my lighting correct ! But i am still learning all the time. I still have not gotten into shadows and shapes yet ! Thank you for all your help ! – Dawn
