Prague in colors – September 2016 (11 images)
after the long 11 years break, this week i visited Prague again. this time it wasn’t any conference or something else but completely pleasure – walks, walks, walks, parties at nights and walks during a day hours again. I broke my feet on the non-recurring twice stones of sidewalks, in some places i was surprised that meaning of vegetarian food is an eating lettuce leaves with a tiny pieces of cheese, the airport and train stations service people were absolutely dry and unsmiling. but the beauty of Prague, this vibrant red of the tram wagons, a tasty beer in the local pubs and a good weather were a good compensation.
this first post from my visit will be surprisingly colorful but as i remember i had one full of colors post after my visit of Barcelona btw… when i reviewed the images chosen for this post i noticed that the most popular color in these images is a RED. can you explain this cos i can’t…
about the technical side of my photographs taken there. for this set i used Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art lens, a little long and heavy but wide enough for the live action photography. i took with me also analogue stuff – a Horizon202 loaded with ilford HP4 film and a Ricoh GR1s loaded with a color Provia. It’s will take some time to develop B&W at home and color film in the local LAB but stay tuned – i will post everything taken in Prague and during very short trip to the Karlstejn castle.
enjoy the colorful Prague..
thank you and welcome to visit again…
I see you really enjoyed capturing colours. I think red is in most photos coz its the strongest and the one colour we notice straight away… i love the last photo – nice touch. looking forward to seeing more!
Thank you Yuri ! All this taken in the same manner as usual and i found these spevific images works much better with their vibrant colors. Working on the whole sets – i have a stuff for a few posts and many on film still not developed just in my hopes and willings only ;-)))
Beautiful photograph. Great choice to stick with the colors. I know you do like black and white photography but these are very nice. I’ve been to Prague .. All the memories came back. So beautiful + charming city, Although many tourist included me 🙂
Thank you Anabelle ! Yes many tourists but mostly in the center of the Staro Mesto close to the Tower and the Clock and you can go just 500 meter aside and to find a usual life of locals.
I love the firrst one then the last shot. All of them are so nice.
Huge thank you !!!
Red is the colour of danger and alert and is the colour our brain reacts to deep down in our neanderthal minds. Nature use this colour for warning us about poison so we are suposed to react on it.
Great pictures of old architecture houses and the citylife, the last image is very beautiful with it’s shadowplay on the fasad.
Thank you Lena for this info ! I can add that Red is also the color of the CCCP flag and i was involved to live there some long time thank you for the kind words ! The last one looked awesome also in reality. And interesting – what about this yellow !?
Your welcome 😀 About the yellow…I don’t know more than it is said to have a calming impact!
Thank you again and red is much more interesting even all the Ney York taxi cars are too vibrant in yellow; -)
Sorry, I was to quick… it is said to be a colour that make us happy! (yellow)
Also me (tooo quick) so taxi drivers makes us happy ! (Not with their prices) 😉
Ha ha ha!! I guess 🙂
As so often, a very stylish and restrained series about flashes of Prague…Love it.
Thank you Paula !
I’ve never been to Prague, but having seen it in various films I always imagined it to be a rather monochromatic, subdued city — but your images prove otherwise, Victor! It’s interesting to see which flashes of color captured your eye.
I agree with Lena about the primal power of the color red, because in nature it signals danger. But if you’re interested in a longer explanation of red in photographs, you may enjoy this article:
