the way to Ethiopia
i’m extremely excited and still have no idea how can i compress everything that i saw to the short blog posts, even extended with my photographs. the music of Ethiopia still sounds in my ears, the smell of Ethiopia tickles my nose and the colors are so alive and exist like i can touch them also now.
the flight was very long because of technical problems in our Ethiopian plane. we sat inside until everything was solved and with the one hour of standing in the Cairo’s Airport, our flight arrived in Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. at 21:00 i saw this airport from the window of our minibus and understood that finally i’m here.
next day early morning was our next internal flight from Addis to Bahar Dar, where we planned to stay a few days. the internals flights Terminal was crowded and security checks more neat and scrupulous than in the previous long flight. 3 times i asked the security guy if it’s possible to check my films manually – 3 times he said me “no problems” and put the rolls to the X-RAY machine path.
Bahar Dar airport was extremely friendly – it was my first experience be tested for Ebola (in Gondar medical staff asked me not to take pictures of them checking for the presence of high temperature) or to take picture of my friend leaned on the plane that transported us a few minutes ago.
in my plans of the next posts – “staged portraits of people”,” “kids are the same kids” everywhere even in Africa, “taken from the road”, “The Ark Of The Covenant” in Dansha, “market madness” of Bahar Dar, “the streets of Gondar”, colors of Ethiopia and i hope much more from Ethiopia.
enjoy the start of my trip :

Wow..what an adventure. …Looking forward to the update to your journey.
thank you very much Paula ! will post more soon !
Nice set of this detailed transition to the airport !!
Bravo Victor.
Wonderful. I have been to the airport in Addis Ababa, for transit, in 2001 and it was a great experience. Smoking under the planes was still allowed and there was a great big 1930th style wooden bar where you can buy practically almost nothing to drink.
Perhaps I should return
hello there ! really interesting experience !
i guess that some things changed from 2001. they have so good local beer – “Amber” is my fav.
i hope to return back for another trip ASAP !
Thank you Viktor for sharing your experience and help me in my imaginary voyage 😉
Thank you very much Vili !!!
Excellent post and pics Victor, very effectively sequenced. Great photojournalism!
Thank you Sam. I only learn to say the story. May be i should take some course.
Hi Victor, you certainly don’t need a course, you know what you’re doing! 🙂
Often i see the real journalist works and sometimes I’m ready to die because of the crazy feeling of the being exactly inside the moment or event. ;-)))
Thanks for sharing your expriance in Ethiopia.

Very welcome !
That sounds like an odyssey. Good to read that the people were friendly. Then you can easily endure such a trip. Africa is special and great. I love it 🙂
Yes I’m dreaming to go there again and to be even more dedicated to collaboration and connection with a people in districts and villages. Thank you
In addition i forgot to mention, we had the same problem to remember on all the names of places and events on our last Uzbekistan travel. Normally we post on tour when we have the opportunity for a proper unfiltered Internet access. This was impossible there. So we had a hard job afterwards. It is always better to write down a few sentence on the road. Have a nice evening Victor 🙂
You’re right. I wrote some part but was short in time sometimes to write more or to ask for the details.
