urban streets of Barcelona.
very strange but i find myself absolutely shy to take pictures of people. busy visitors interested me less than locals. they looked like me – camera in one hand, constantly lifted up head or sliding around glance, searching for pickpockets in the crowd. big part of them was shrouded with plastic bags. one massive shopping race. but everything instantly changed when I turned into the lane and was moved from the central streets. “to get lost” is the best idea when you want to find something amazing. so i followed this advice of my friend and lost myself in the narrow streets of districts of Barcelona. the weather was variable from extremely sunny and hot to cloudy and shadowless. in cases of lack of sun I was finding a local coffee shop or pub and just sat staring around. btw – beer is not a strong side of Barcelona, but i found the “Moritz Epidor” – highly recommended if you looking for something tastier than everywhere present “Estrella Damm”.
let’s return back to our streets – urban, straight, narrow, endless, sunny and shady.. (this narrow form really help to create very long and strong shadows, crossing diagonally the highlighted areas). the flowing around forms of “Gaudi’s buildings” not really caught my attention.
the last four images were taken In Girona – small city located 99 km northeast of Barcelona, and Besalú – very small is a town located not far from Girona.
all images taken with Sigma 35mm and Canon 135mm lenses.
in my plans to post another story in colors. just stay here and be tuned to the right wave !

Beautiful architecture! You must have been awake at 4:00AM to see none at all in these lovely alleys! I was just thinking if you lived in the places with balconies you could lean out and have perfect conversations across the way or borrow things too! This was what I call a positive photography walk because you were ” ALWAYS LOOKING UP”! I am happy you did not fall !
While looking at these pictures of architecture again, I also noticed how wonderful you are using the sense of depth in the photos . This gives me this feeling of really being carried away on these long beautiful streets and way up into the tops of the tall lives in the buildings.
I guess over there no one has clothes dryers ??? Everyone has to hang clothing outside ??? Wow! As bad an adjustment as not having your Estrella !!
Number five from the top is a wonderful piece. The composition is curious and the shadow light wonderfully balanced in an abstract sort of way.
thank you very much ! the light of this city was so beautiful and shadows were so long and dark – I might have shoot all this indefinitely !
Good work!
Thank you !!
