Behind the scenes of Shtisel 2 (שטיסל) TV series
it was great success of the Season 1 and it has become much higher after the screening of the Season 2. not action, detective or HDR fantasy full format movie, but “about life”, just a little bit different kind of life – life of ultra-Orthodox – with a familiar to us dramas, problems and emotions.
i’m happy that i was a lucky visitor and BTS photographer for 2 episodes. the real life of the set is between the director’s “Cut” and “Action” and the collaboration of all the stuff looks like sporadic from the first sight, but actually very good managed dance.
recent few weeks i got an unexpected wide traffic directed from US located forums and Twitter accounts. many people come to my “shtisel israeli tv series – season 2” page when them are searching for the English titles on Google.
enjoy the filming set…
thank you …
These are great photos.
Good ‘set’.
Thank you !
fined series, Victor!
It is a kaleidoscope and a small window for a glimpse of the Jewish society for me. I had an Israeli girlfriend about 25 years ago. She fled from this Jewish society to Germany. We had a lot of discussion and I have learned a lot about living this way. All this I find in your pictures again. I am always very curious about foreign cultures and what I see seems to me truly strange. But something more can be seen in your images for me. It is the expression betrays her humor and her wisdom. I meet again and again Israelis on my travels and when we talk some words exactly this humor combined with intelligence fascinates me. Too bad, because I can imagine that it is precisely this property that other people scares. I wish we could have returned more Jewish citizens in our country. We could learn from each other.
Thank you my friend ! You said very right – to learn from each other and we all have a lot to learn. About different culture and society – may be it will surprise you but also for me it was very strange and different also for me. Here in Israel there are many cultures and not only on social level but also on religious level. The life of atheists like me (and there are meny) and life of haredim or ultra – orthodox are like different universities and as usual not crossing in everyday routine. Also some part of acters of these scenes are not religious and they learned on the way of filming how to behave. It was interesting experience; -)
Interesting to see photos and read your comments. I just completed watching the series, I think it is a dramatic masterpiece. I know the ultra-orthodox world and I found it authentic and moving.
Victor, in your comment above I believe you meant different universes, not different universities. 🙂
Hey Leonie ! Thank you for taking a look and attentive reading. You’re right – my mistake !
Wonderful coverage Victor, great results as always!!
Thank you Sam ! I have many still unedited and unseen images from the set and with the time i love these moments more and more 😉 looks like my brain need some pause after the massive shootings 😉
Hey Victor, totally understand! The last time I did an event, I was numb for a week! You’ll be back to yourself soon 🙂
lovely documented Victor, thanks for sharing.
Superb series and documentary of a different way of life. Some priceless portraits there. Wonderful in every way.
Thank you Paula! You said so good – different way of life !
Fascinating series of images Victor – an interesting insight.
David.
P.s please post more.
Thank you David ! Do you mean more images from this set ?
Ha – sorry: yes……
Did look at the colour series and that just made me desire more, it’s not often that we can see what goes on behind the making these programmes.
David.
I think that i posted everything from these sets 😉 but I’m attending now two more clips filming and really hope to visit the Shtisel 3 filming process this year. Also you can find the “behind the scenes” category and tags in my blog for another movie filming set – Land of the little people” thank you David !
I haven’t watched Shtisel, but I’ve seen another tv-series from Jerusalem: Srugim.
Great behind the scenes photos Victor.
Same director. And my brother is color editor of both tv-series
Cool. Now you’re officially my vague link to Srugim. 😀 heheh
I really recommend you to watch Shtisel. If you loved srugim – shtisel is the real tv-drama 😉
Depends if it’s easily available online or not (and if it’s with subtitles)… We used some website with Israeli TV channels before, but it got closed down because it was apparently illegal in Israel.
I think that English titles are still not ready but i will ask my brother
great behind the scenes insight… you’ve captured great moments… were you shooting the stills on the set, while they were filming as well? how wonderful…
I was invited by production to shoot two days of their work. It was in the central part of Israel in different cities. Hope to visit and to shoot the next season also 😉 thank you
Awesome job Victor…
As a truly content member of the Hasidic community I found in Shtisel a mostly authentic and somewhat humorous portrayal of orthodox life. Your shots are beautiful and give a glimpse of behind the scenes action. When are you going to visit the Shtisel 3 filming? Looking forward to your pics of season 3…
Much success,
Sarah S
Hi Sarah. Thank you very much. I still dont know when i going to visit the sets of the new season shootings. Hope very soon 😉
