Collaboration with friends and strangers part-iii.
We are almost finished with 1/3 part of 2023 and this is only my second blog post this year. Shame on me for being such a lazy publisher. And it’s not like I’m taking fewer photographs, or I have fewer thoughts to express here. Just time is too busy and less enjoyable and it has a strong effect on me, so prefer to stay silent instead of sounding like a complaining pessimist. And yes, some people are confused between realism and pessimism and I really can’t help with this.
Today my series of photographs is about my recent collaboration with friends and strangers. More exactly – the candid images of my friends and staged portraits of the strangers whom I meet during the walks in the different sites of the country. Sometimes I ask people for portraits. Not happening to me too often as I managed to do this a few years ago, but still very nice portraits of those who said “yes” to my ask about to “pose” for me just for a click.
Additionally From the long of very exciting things that happened to me last months (yes, not only negative stuff), I can highlight the two most recent. One of them is purchasing of the mint Horizon 202 plastic, manual film camera, which I once was the happy owner of until it stopped working completely, but it left me a bunch of happy memories. I hunted for this camera few long months on eBay and finally found one, which made me want to hold it in my hands. I got it yesterday and the first film I’m planning to load will be the Kosmo Fote Agent Shadow, an ISO400 panchromatic black-and-white film. Another, even more, exciting for me – the new photography site – published yesterday by my son Tom Bezrukov. Seems like this blog will be devoted mainly to film photography and some “philosophic” aspects of the idea of taking photographs. As well the site is already used as his Videography and Photography portfolio. Take a look, please.
And now some photographs with a short explanation when I have to add one.
Rickardo and his ampanadas. I met him twice in some looking-friendly backyard in Pardes Hana and he prepared me absolutely tasty vegetarian empanadas.
Simcha’s Jachnoon kitchen – making Yemeni pita.
My son Tom and his new-old Mamiya RB67.
Lior and his freshly developed roll of the 135 film.
Roy Gedalia in the renewed Traklin Food and culture venue.
I met this young guy in the abandoned “The girl’s house” complex.
His older brothers and their shotguns firing silicone balls.
No-name girl, just returned home from sea and parked her bicycle close to the building. I asked her for this portrait and she gladly agreed.
No-name guy, who asked me to take a portrait of his dog, but finally agreed to be part of this scene
From one of photo walks in southern Tel Aviv with my son Tom.
Eldad just finished the surf and I asked him for a portrait with my film camera. Additionally took this backup image on digital.
Hannah and a street cat in the old Jaffa port. She offered him a fresh fish and the cat was kinda shocked.
Nimrod is the king. Taken immediately after the Muna Kamuna band performance at the Traklin – Food and Culture venue.
