contrasts of people and places – Ethiopia, Barcelona, TelAviv
i was so lucky to get this ability to visit these very contrasty sides of earth in such short time between the trips. and the country of my permanent residence is another side of this triangle of contradiction. every place is absolutely different in culture, traditions, forms of transport, knowledge of foreign languages (of course i don’t talk about russian but english lang), being ready for a contact and the most important for photographer – paying attention to the camera. When i saw the good “organized” chaos of the La Ramblas and thousands of tourists, i remembered the main street of Bahir Dar that led me from AG hotel to the biggest local market. I tried to find the name of this street on the Google maps but nothing like this. in my memories the only deep smells and continuous beeps of all kind of transport moving in ALL directions, the almost complete absence of tourists and huge amount of people – going, standing, sitting, buying and selling. do you want to know where i felt myself calmly ? not at Ramblas for sure :-).
about these images – the first three are from Ethiopia – the title of this post originally was “Bahir Dar, Barcelona, TelAviv” but i recognized that i used three images from different cities of Ethiopia – Bahir Dar, Gondar and Addis Ababa in order as you see them. Barcelona is Barcelona – the light was perfect in every part of day, this is the magic of this city. the last three images taken in Tel Aviv-Yafo – my non-stop admiration.
some of my previous posts from Ethiopia, Barcelona and TelAviv.
enjoy the contrasts of people and places :
Thank you…
Really enjoyed these. Interesting similarities in people despite the different locations!
Thank you for careful exploring!
Interesting idea! A pleasure to look at 🙂
Huge thank you !
A joy to look at your very good and interesting series
Thank you Paula ! More from both – Ethiopia and Barcelona is ready for more posts !
One of the things I like about your work is I feel the climate and atmosphere in your photos. Like the sun on my head or a wind coming down an alley. I just love that about your work.
Thank you very much ! I will bring you more 😉
Absolutely do…
yeah, the similarity of the places and situations came first to my mind. i had to look closer to see the differences … maybe the differences are not even that big and they just exist in our heads. or it is your approach to the scenes that you don’t see so many differences which is good 🙂
But still i got some deep feeling of contrasts when i was in Barcelona.
yeah, I guess barca is the most dangerous place of all three
Haha ! One should save his pockets very well 😉 nothing like this in Addis Ababa
I like the new layout Victor, and marvelous photos, as always!
Beautiful street scenes in the three places – favorite for the last
Thank you Pat !!
