Ethiopia – black and white photo essay (9 images)
i’m happy to return back to this endless theme – people of Ethiopia. i have to post much more than i already posted – and this is my 10th story about what i saw during this trip. initially i wanted to call this post “isolated subjects” but stopped myself – “isolated” is such not right word about the people of this country – mostly they do everything in groups – small or big, but “gathering” is description for everything – you can see the last photo of this post – these kids just walked together their usual way to bring home water. looks like party, right ?
but alongside with gathering people, i put my attention to the other kind of hanging out – to be alone, to go far without happy company, to sit alone or to meditate in the middle of nothing. possible these HUGE and EMPTY spaces made them even more lonely. they fascinated me as well as lonely spaceships furrowing infinite spaces.
enjoy the spaces..
thank you

Thank you for taking a look !
Excellent series and the two that stood out the most for me: The Girl in the field with shallow depth of field and the Donkey cart.
David.
Thank you for the careful exploring David. I took these images one year ago but these moments are so fresh in my memories and eyes !!
Wow, really masterful images Victor! They’re all great, but number two and four are just stunning!!
Thank you Sam ! I’m happy that everyone can find his own favorites ! Big fun. I think that this man walking alone with umbrella in his hand is my fav for now ;-)))
I think the man with the umbrella is number two in your set, and yes, that’s one of my favorites too! Great work!
Huge thank you Sam !!
Beautifully written Victor and a very solid series. I like the consistent focal length in the images as well as wonderful compositions. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the kind words Yuri. Most of images here are taken with 135mm f2 lens and only few with wide open 35.
Some stunners and all lovely, what a good series again. Sad that part of the country is suffering greatly from drought again..as if there is not enough going on presently.
Thank you Paula !
