Habima – Dizengoff rally against the whole country’s second lockdown, Israel.
During all the protests in which I took part recently as a photographer, but primarily as one who fully supports the ideas of the Balfour protests, I always more connected to the small part of these protests, including a RALLY – the beautiful DEMONSTRATION of protester’s meaning to other people and to the authorities as well.
The same happened last Thursday in TelAviv during the protest against the massive lockdown of the whole country, and this lockdown has no basis and logic to happen. Just a fact, that it was announced by the government and not by a special commission led by Commissioner for the Fight against the Corona Virus in Israel – Ronni Gamzu.
The rally wasn’t long and massive in terms of amount of people attended. But the vibe was great and the TelAviv’s police just were around and from the start helped to stop the traffic and after 15 minutes just disappeared so everything continued and ended without accidents which are usually provoked by the police and not by protesters. But this is another story for another blog post. We walked around 2 km from Habima square, where the main part of this meeting took a place, through the Dizengoff center along the street to Arlozorov and the same way back.
Finally, I was deeply disappointed by the inactivity of the locals and their very bad knowledge of what these protests all over the country are about. The bars and pubs of the central and popular Dizengoff street were packed everywhere – obviously, people were preparing for the 3 weeks of “asceticism” and wanted to eat and to drink for the three weeks ahead. I saw an actual shock in many eyes and their facial expressions. Well, I’m a very apolitical person but what is happening in the country and in the world has not left me indifferent for many months since the beginning of this year. This is not the best time for escapism now.
The whole evening in pictures:
