Medium Format photography – tired of people – go to trees
when I’m getting tired of people – I go to the trees (and cactuses)
when getting tired of the trees – i go to their foliage…
and again – some scans of the latest rolls developed in my home mini dark room. taken with Hasselblad 500cm and Planar 80mm lens on ilford HP5 film and semi-stand developed in R09 One Shot (Rodinal) developer.
with an announcement of the new M10 Leica camera for a moment i almost bowed to pressure of the Social Media and decided that i’m ready to search for myself some M3 or M4 system and even started to read all the countless articles and reference books about the difference between M4 and MP and MD and M-A and and and… Finally i don’t know why i have to move or to add this additional system to my gear “collection” – i love to have the only one camera for every format and to use it, and right now i’m looking for a good and not too mush expensive replacement for the RIP Horizon202 – this format is one of my favorite and i miss this camera a lot, but don’t want to spent money to the same Horizon202 but to find something that will stay “all-in-one piece” for a long time.
Another crazy idea of the last weeks or months is to start with Large Format photography. and this is another massive “project”, because i know absolutely nothing about and need to learn everything that i need for the start. and this project is really much more heavy in terms of priority then Leica for me.
enjoy the trees (and cactuses) …
Stunning series, Victor! I love trees and they have lots of stories to tell….
Regarding your text – me too was thinking of a Leica M4, but I came to the same conclusion and decided to stay with my Contax.
Large format! That’s a project and I am looking forward to your new experiences 🙂
Oh happy to hear from you about the same conclusions. And Large format is a future !
beautiful captures.
Thank you Laurence !
Images 6 and 7 completely hypnotized me. Looking forward to your reports on the large format projects! Good luck
Thank you Yuri 1 images 6 and 7 exactly what i felt when I directed camera up and saw this in the big mirrored viewfinder. About large format – it will take some time – to understand what exactly i need, to find the needed gear on ebay and finally to learn – all this is money and time consuming project but im definitely on the way there !
speaks to me…I can sense that you love trees.
I think that really by some mistake i have this amount of trees in my analogue frames. Thank you Paula for the kind words
That fifth image from the field is very interesting. Would like to see some different angles there with sufficient depth of field. Could make a great image 🙂
I never tire of your people pics, but your tree collection is marvelous! I love the artistry of number six! As for the Leica, I think you have G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome) like most of us do. The Leica are superb cameras, but the film loading can be a pain. If you can, go to a camera store to check it out. Another thought would be to start with a cheap Bessa R camera, they have standard film backs.
thank you for this recommendation Sam! (i just found this your comment right now 🙂 i have no idea where i can try some Leica camera and i think i just have no need in this camera. so many other very interesting cameras and systems !
