next subject for my photography
i feel that i got lost in my thoughts about my photography and searches of photography projects and subjects. everything is photographed. cats and dogs, bicycles and umbrellas, going-sitting-doing people, dramatic nature, empty places. of course i exaggerate as usual and this is not exactly a point. the question about my next “subject” comes back to me from time to time and the last few month i felt sick and even depressed because of this. i massively went to exhibitions and lectures about photography with strong desire to find the answer – why i take photographs.
my “lucky luck” was the spontaneus opportunity “to visit Ethiopia.”. with a small group of documental movie production. it was the most interesting experience in photography for me. not to think about special subject but to take photographs of the whole life of different country and a harder way of living. life is the subject. and i loved to document it from my point of view.
additional “stress point” happened last week during the anti-racism rally in TelAviv when i was lucky to be in the middle of the “massive demonstration” at the central roads of the city and at night – the “horrible confrontation” between Ethiopian Jews community plus numerous supporters against Israeli police and bureaucratic system.
both events just pushed me out of my routine and forced me to “work” under the pressure of the different situations and non-comfort zones where i exist in my usual everyday life. doubtless that some things scared me, but this additional adrenalin made me happy – i Photographed life – the real life.
enjoy the subjects :
Thank you…
Thank you for this delight. Is your Crisis a delight for me? No! Your Crisis is perhaps leading you to the Anew’ and that possibility is a delight. The Crisis you are facing within your space which I term as Knowledge is testimonial to the wisdom you behold and makes you so humane. It affects me as I have been for quite some time questioning the very basis of my existence as a creative persona. I am questioning whether to be a Clown and entertain or to abandon the circus and start an unknown selfish journey…
I love your ability to say so good and powerful Sat!!
Photographing life is what it’s all about…
Absolutely right Valerie !
Powerful and beautiful images.
Thank you for taking a look !!
Great contrast with your last post !! This is the real life too, of course.
You’re right – life is full of contrasts 😉 thank you
Victor, I’ve met this guy last year in the summer, which was more than very funny after we had a short internet contact before that without realizing we are going to meet.
His comfort zone is normally different than most of people and as you said “to take photographs of the whole life of different country and a harder way of living. life is the subject” – I feel it is very much what he is doing. Perhaps you like to have a look

Omg he is so good and crazy. The level that impossible to reach my friend. Thank you for this link and fantastic inspiration !
Well, each and their own level, and levels tend to rise as we near them, so higher is always the way.
But if the inspiration got to you that is fantastic and I am very happy I recommended.
Last year he wanted to come to Israel and was looking for a subject which unfortunately I couldn’t think of. I am not sure if he did came in the end or not. Perhaps in the coming years.
Absolutely interesting to meet him coming to Israel. I met a few photographers know for their street photography but this subject is very freestyle near this guy doing. Thank you again. May be one day i will neet him 😉
WOW!! What a stunning set of photographs!! I love them all, Victor. And I know, what you mean with your thoughts about your photography. I have that quite often, and I learned, taking photos is a thing that happens, just let it flow… You will ALWAYS be a great photographer. And doubting or thinking about subjects are part of that.
I agree with you and just enjoing this feeling and let it flow slowly and easy. Thank you for the kind words and for taking a look !!!
Looks pretty worn over the details !! a pleasure your photos
Thank you Patrick !!
Great images and thoughts Victor. Let the subject find you (as Ethiopia that you mentioned). That usually bring the best results.
absolutely agree Vili ! but i’m also looking around all the time 🙂
Brilliant…I love them 😉 and don’t die soon.
Tnank tou ! Hopt also ,-)
“It was the most interesting experience in photography for me. Not to think about special subject but to take photographs of the whole life of different country and a harder way of living. life is the subject, and i loved to document it from my point of view,” I can relate.
“. . . pushed me out of my routine and forced me to “work” under the pressure of the different situations and non-comfort zones where i exist in my usual everyday life. doubtless that some things scared me, but this additional adrenaline made me happy – i Photographed life – the real life,” I identify with this statement too.
