People of Jerusalem – getting closer – black and white series taken with Ricoh GRii.
Hello here. And again my post is about the magical Jerusalem and these people inhabiting it or coming with a long or short visits (like my own – very short but relaxing and energetic at the same time).
“If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.”. Many of us everyone has heard this phrase, said a long time ago by Robert Capa. In other words – use a wide-angle lens and not telephoto if you want to express the moment and expression of the subject in the most intimate way. This is actually my interpretation of these golden words, said by the master of documentary photography documented wars.
Many years ago, when io heard this phrase for the first time, I got nothing that these words were about, but somehow they scratched something unforgotten in my mind forever. This period of my life I explored streets with a long 70-200 lens and cropped the life, that appeared before my eyes, to deeply compressed frames. One day I decided to try a 50mm prime lens and stuck with for a few long years until I have fallen in love with a 35mm lens.
This series was taken with 28mm lens – the built-in lens of my Ricoh GRii camera, that right now is my favorite for both – film and digital, because of the size of the Ricoh cameras, because of the sharp and fast 28mm Ricoh lens and also because I lost this regular problem of many photographers – what lens I will take with me today. But this is another story for another post.
Welcome to Jerusalem.

Hi Victor awesome and dynamic set of pictures! You do justice to your town man, makes me want to go there. Happy Holidays!!
Thank you Sam ! hope to go there these holidays again. i just feel how i miss this vibe. Yesterday was Kippurim Day – the day when its prohibited to use any kind of transport, exclude bicycles and skates. So the whole country is staying at home, I did 10 km by feet and used my Hasselblad exposed 3 bw rolls – the only nature and some village stuff. hope to develop everything this weekend !
Well i found the problem and now the comments are open.
Somehow, probably due to the latest wordpress update the feature to close a comments after 28 days was checked.
