Pre quarantine isolation with Nikonos-v and Nikkor 35mm Underwater Lens.
Despite the title of this post, I’m doing well, as it is possible to do this period of time of our civilization that will be retold one day in “The Plague ii” book by unknown so far writer. Additionally, this book will be accompanied by the few millions of images taken with unstoppable smartphones of the “all we are journalists” generation of the photographing for their stories and immediately forgetting their snapshots people.
But this post is not about complaining, but about isolation. “Isolation” as something positive, helping to remain healthy in terms of perception. To look around and to see the regular and boring subjects from another point of view devoid of an illusion that everything is already explored and observed.
I photographed this series a half year ago around my house during the weekend when I felt sick and had all the heavy flu symptoms. I stayed at home for two days, drank a tank of tea with lemon and ginger, played guitar and took some photos around my village house, just 100m around me. Huh, already a common situation.
As usual some technical information about the gear i used and about the process of developing. This time I put Fomapan 200 film to the Nikonos V film camera with the fantastic Nikkor 35mm lens attached. I hate Fomapan when it’s ISO 200 due to the feeling of the deep anemia of the results. So I pushed the roll one-stop and semi-stand processed in Rodinal, which I always have on my shelf. Dilution 1+100 and one hour of waiting with 10 inversions in the middle for more contrasts. One of the great advantages of this developer is the long shelf life even the bottle is already open and half used. You can keep it for years. So I do.
Take care everybody.
Your play with light and shade is, as always , tremendous.
thank you Paula ! they both are in my blood 😉
These kinds of shots are hard to do.. at least I am not good at but you have a great eyes with playing lighting and shadows!! .
thank you Naomi..seems like about perception training. much easy than to go through the crowded markets and streets ;-)) with the scenes like these you can be very slow and not in hurry bcos of nonstop interchanging moments and faces 😉
I will do more practice on that .. I challenge you 🤫🔥🔥
Nice series of images of everyday things!
thank you Yuri. these everyday things are the only in my viewfinder these days. walking a lot around of my village – for my look no one is count the 100m permitted from.the living place like in TelAviv for instance. And these days i mostly use my film cameras. I find slow photography on film is helping me more accurate explain the situation (just for me and my seeing).
You’re lucky you can walk around 😃👍🏻 im stuck in my tiny apartment in the city center. I do go cycling sometimes thou and occasional trip to the shop
i see ! actually i dont know what is better! i love this my isolation in the village but also what to try some week in the city center just to look around from the window.
Beautiful photos, Victor. Missed them!
hey Alina ! thank you ! hope that you’re doing well these days !
Yes Victor, I am fine, until now, thank you. Hope you’re well and healthy too.
yes same here ! stay safe and come to see my blogs ;-))
You too. I’ll try to as much as I can. 🙂
