The Holiday of the Holidays 2019 – Wadi Nisnas with Ricoh GRii (part iii – with a flash)

 
this part ends the photo story about beautiful celebrating and coexistence of the different religions, mentality and cultures. For this final series, I used builtin flash of my Ricoh GRii that was excluded from the new GRiii version of this camera and this fact upset me a little bit, bcos one of the main reason of massive use by this camera is prolonged preservation of traditions of putting to the mainline the old school photography as is and not a race for the new features and buttons. One of my favorite photographers Daido Moriyama used very old and much less technologically advanced versions of this camera and took most of his iconic and fantastic works without any idea about future features like touch screen, image stabilizer, and smile recognition. All this is just business-oriented bullshit (sorry Ricoh) and can’t help to one who wants to stay fast and minimalistic in terms of this kind of less fancy photography gear, that should provide these main functions – the ability to snap, to go fully manual, to have easy zone focusing possibilities and my personal notice – the manual distance numbers are almost invisible both day and night.

More about this series. I’m still learning and trying to master this technique. Mostly I use flash during small rock music events in the local purs and music avenues. The scene lighting is very poor in many of them so the builtin flash helps me to draw and to paint the visual picture of what is going in almost deep darkness. Of course in practice – street photography with the flash is much more difficult and somehow challenging. This time I mix both black&white and color photography to the finalizing set.
