The romanticization of nostalgia – the Chemical meditation.
Life is going forward, the days are passing like the small and big stations in the carriage window (and I was hypnotized for hours watching these passing stations through the always open carriage window during our long trips to Ukraina and back to Kazachstan in my childhood). Now this speed of the fast passing days makes me less happy but not less hypnotizing. Some of these stations are less funny, some very sad (about these I will write later).
One of the great things that happened to me these weeks – I returned back to the editing process with Davinci Resolve and the sample is the video that I attached here after the text and this post got the same title as this short video, that I published to my slowly growing Youtube channel – subscribe to my video updates, watch the already published videos. It’s not easy to say which came first: the chicken or the egg. Same I ask myself about my love of film photography. Initially, I started taking photographs with a digital camera, but from the first click, I already was sold on the Analog process of creating images, especially the Black and White process, and the results. It took some time for me to understand that I’m ready to put my hands on a film camera and some period of time to understand that I would like to extend my process also with the home development process as well. And I can’t say it is more Romantic or more Nostalgic. But somehow inside of me, I’m sure that both descriptions express very exactly the slow and careful process of image creation on celluloid. Some of the images, appearing in this video you can see attached here in the continuation of this post. All 12 frames turned out perfectly. Part of them was photographed in Jerusalem during one of my usual trips, and part in the village of my residence. Sure, you will figure out for yourself where is. Some time ago I was attracted by my friend “Hannah Kozak” to open a profile on the website Visura – “a curated marketplace and site builder that connects image buyers, media publications, and organizations with professional, diverse visual storytellers, and journalists worldwide.” I hope to start selling my licensed editorial photographs, and possibly as well commercial works. The interface of Visura is very clean, without annoying Ads and likes (well – one can put a “heart” on the work he/she loves, but there is no visible count of these, as the result of the algorithm counting the “Top” or the “Best” is absent). One can publish there the catalogs for existing customers with his/her established price – these directories will be hidden from the public and available privately only with the link for a specific customer. Please visit “my profile here” Something sad that to my shame was revealed to me only yesterday. “Iohan Gueorguiev” died at the age of 33 in August 2021… Yes, more than a year ago. I have been following him on Youtube for 4-5 years, looking through all his episodes of the travel from Alaska to Argentina on the simple bicycle, filmed with Gopro, and telling endless stories about the not-easy life of the Bike Wanderer. Without knowing this, he becomes a family member. Without knowing this – he left this world that he wanted to SEE and to SHOW the unknown beauty of the far places to all his followers and real-life friends, he met during the years of his long trips. I learned from him that minimalist way that we can live and enjoy the simplicity of this life.
Wow great work Victor an impressive achievement. I’ve looked at all the LINK in here. What’s hit me was unknown beauty. Yes we can live and enjoy the simplicity of this life. Thank you for the links. Good luck on Visura Please do not leave your camera behind. :):)
